Kitchen Ice Cream Maker
and entertaining addition to most kitchens.
Kids love it in the summer, as home made ice cream is not only more tasty, but it’s often healthier too.
Now as some others have expressed, ice cream is full of sugar etc… yes, it’s often not very good for you. But what’s life without a treat now and then?
Use fruit and other natural sweetners instead of raw sugar and you’ll be on the right road for a more healthy ice cream alternative.
Some other tips for using any home made kitchen ice cream maker:
1. Freeze the bowl for longer than is suggested. Often times it’s better to do more, than less. Of course this is not the case if you like runny ice cream!
2. Make half quantities. The reason for this is that ice cream expands as it freezes. So if you’ve got a smaller sized bowl, you’ll most likely find that it over flows when it freezes. Another reason is mentioned above. The bigger quantities the slower the freeze time.
3. Do not add too much sugar. Freezing the ice cream makes it sweeter. So resist the urge to add more sugar before freezing the mix. If you absolutely must add something, try some fruit or fruit juice instead.
4. Try many different recipies! Some of my favorite recipies are not even ice cream. I love frozen custard, sorbet and I even use mine to make slushies!
Finally, make sure not to over indulge. It’s tough, I know. When something tastes sooo good and there are so many options for recipies, it’s important to pace yourself. There will be plenty of opportunities to try out that amazing coffee choc chip flavour but don’t do it at 11pm at night! You’ll never sleep!
